Erin Walsh

Erin Walsh rowing starboard at a HRRC scratch regatta

If you have any questions or interest in racing, write me anytime! I’ll tolerate head races since they still count as racing, but sprints have my heart. There is nothing like pulling up to the line and sitting ready. I love working with novice rowers to prep them for what racing is like, and also set up quite a few of the club non-rowing activities like brewery meet ups, having local groups come talk to the club, and movie night.

Erin at a glance

Do you prefer to sweep, scull, or either?
Technically either, but my back prefers to scull the older I get. I will always love rowing port in a strong sweep boat though.

What made you interested in rowing?
My junior year in high school a boy bet me $10 I wouldn’t last a month on the crew team. Thanks Javier, I’m still rowing 30+ years later.

What is one of the things you enjoy about HRRC?
There are two things that immediately come to mind and I can’t narrow it down. The first is the people. I love the wide range of club members. All ages, experience levels, preferences, but we mesh well together at club events and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. The second is the amazing water and equipment at HRRC. My high school and college teams were great, but rowing is an expensive sport. I never had boats this nice until I found HRRC. They’re all very well maintained and so fun to row!
